Orientation Program Welcomes Batch-252 Students at GUB’s Department of Journalism and Media Communication

The Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC) at Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) successfully organized the Orientation Program for the newly admitted Batch-252 students on September 24, 2025, at Room L-110, GUB.

The program was graced by distinguished guests and academic leaders. Prof. Dr. Khawza Iftekhar Uddin Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GUB, attended as the Chief Guest. Md. Kamrul Islam, Editor of Dhaka Post and General Manager (PR) of US-Bangla Airlines, joined as Guest of Honour and Key Speaker, while Ms. Nadia Sharmeen, Senior Reporter and Joint Secretary of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), was present as Guest of Honour and Lead Speaker. The session was chaired by Dr. Habib Mohammad Ali, Chairperson of the Department of JMC.

The orientation featured motivational speeches, a departmental documentary screening, and introductions of faculty and new students. The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and a group photo session, creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere.

The speakers encouraged the new students to uphold journalistic integrity, embrace digital storytelling, and prepare for dynamic careers in the media industry. Freshers expressed their excitement and gratitude, describing the event as both inspiring and engaging as they begin their academic journey at GUB.

The Department extends heartfelt thanks to its faculty members, staff, alumni, and students for their collective effort in making the program a grand success. The event marked yet another step toward fostering a vibrant community of future media professionals at Green University of Bangladesh.
