
Students of the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) took part in an SDG-aligned study visit to the National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC) on 21 December 2025.
The visit was arranged under the courses Mass Media in Bangladesh, Fundamentals of Human Communication, and Gender and Media Communication, and was accompanied by Dr. Md. Aliur Rahman (Associate Professor), Jannatul Ferdous Meem (Lecturer), and Kazi Mahadi Muntasir (Media Lab Coordinator & Editor).
At NIMC, students were formally addressed by Muhammad Hiruzzaman, NDC, Director General (Additional Secretary), NIMC, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. He shared insights on the institute’s role in developing skilled media professionals and highlighted future opportunities for media students. Dr. Md. Maruf Nawaz, Director, NIMC, guided the students through the institute’s modern news studio and radio station, offering practical exposure to professional media operations.
The study visit strengthened students’ understanding of media policy, public communication, and gender-sensitive and inclusive media practices, aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).
