Department of JMC has successfully organized a special hands-on workshop titled “SEO for Journalists” on 03 May 2025, conducted as part of the course JMC 408: Radio & Online Journalism.

The half-day workshop was held under the supervision of Mr. Monjur Kibriya Bhuiyan, Lecturer, JMC. Designed to equip students with the skills to write and publish SEO-friendly news articles, the session addressed a critical need in today’s digital journalism landscape.

The event was inaugurated by the Honorable Chairperson of the Department, Dr. Habib Mohammod Ali, who shared insightful remarks on the integration of digital tools in journalistic practice. The workshop was further enriched by the presence of senior faculty member Dr. Aliur Rahman. Additionally, Mr. Mahadi Muntasir, Media Lab Coordinator, provided essential technical support throughout the session.

The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Shankha Shubhra Sarkar, Adjunct Lecturer, AI & Data Science, GUB, whose expert guidance helped students practically apply core SEO strategies to journalistic writing.

This initiative reflects the Department’s ongoing commitment to fostering practical, industry-relevant skills and bridging the gap between classroom learning and the dynamic demands of the media profession.
