PCR and MCR Lab

PCR and MCR Lab

A PCR and MCR Lab is a specialized broadcasting control environment designed to manage, monitor, and ensure the smooth transmission of audio-visual content. It plays a vital role in professional television production by coordinating live programs, recorded segments, and signal distribution with precision and technical accuracy. In journalism and media education, such a lab provides students with hands-on exposure to the operational backbone of broadcast media.

The PCR (Production Control Room) and MCR (Master Control Room) Lab of the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC) at Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) functions as the central command hub of the News Studio. The PCR is equipped with video switchers, audio mixers, character generators, preview monitors, and communication systems that allow students to direct live shows, manage camera feeds, control graphics, and coordinate studio operations in real time. It trains students in program direction, technical coordination, and live production management.

The MCR, on the other hand, is responsible for signal monitoring, content scheduling, and transmission control. With professional-grade monitoring systems and playback servers, students learn how to supervise broadcast quality, manage recorded content, and ensure uninterrupted transmission.

Together, the PCR and MCR Lab provide comprehensive practical training in broadcast operations, enabling students to understand both creative production and technical transmission processes. This integrated learning environment prepares them for professional roles in television channels, online streaming platforms, and digital media industries.
